The fantasy football regular season is already halfway through, can you believe it? With that being said, here are my midseason grades compared with my preseason expectations from each team.
The Surprisers (Good and Bad)
- BC2198: A+
With little to no fantasy knowledge coming in to the season, I actually had to beg Bryan to join the league. In fact, I think I should earn a little commission if he continues on his current onslaught all the way to championship week. Ekeler and Jacobs have been an insane RB duo, scoring 30+ week in, week out.
- Shaffman: B
After making what seems to be a million trades, Shaffman was able to construct a solid roster compared to his draftees. Winning 3 of his last 4, the Shooters are looking to continue winning all the way to the playoffs.
- Simon: C
I have to feel bad for Simon, since he has proven to be proactive in managing his team. However, he has not been able to match his prior year’s fantasy run with a 2-5 record. I do feel like he will turn the ship around in the second half of the season with a boosted roster after a few trades in recent weeks.
- Martin: D-
Coming off an insanely unexpected championship year, Martin has been very inactive this year, only completing one trade and three waiver pickups. With a 1-6 record, it looks like this season will have a new champion in the books.
Business As Usual
- Christian: A
I came into the season expecting Shaffy Jr. to be strong, hence why he’s in this category. Christian’s squad looks to be a playoff lock, with very strong drafting as well as great waiver pickups.
- Ziv: B+
While I have lost two weeks in a row, fact of the matter remains that I was the last remaining undefeated team. It is always expected for me to be a top dog in any fantasy league I’m in since I’m obviously that guy. However, I will need to trend upward sooner rather than later to remain in the playoff picture.
- Ross: B-
My haterade might be affecting my grading here, but Ross’s team genuinely has not impressed me. Somehow he’s managed his way to a 5-2 record, but things are looking grim as explained in the power rankings below.
Disappointments
- TRUMMIEEE: B-
The main reason Javi is on this tier is due to his 3-4 record. Don’t get me wrong, his team is still very good. However, he will need to start finding wins very soon to stay in the playoff race.
- Splashman: C-
Malik has had a hard time finding wins this season, but I can’t blame him with Kirk as his QB. McCaffrey has actually been decent, but the rest of the squad is missing star power. Kirktober did not translate to fantasy, unfortunately.
- Jason: D
Drafting 3 WRs in a row instead of electing for a RB in the middle rounds has proven to be a poor choice for Jason’s squad. He is now stuck with a 3-4 record with no real RB2/3 in sight.
